Zongos should not be source of conflict - Horner-Sam

Effiakuma (W/R) Nov. 28, - GNA - Madam Sophia Horner-Sam, Deputy Western Regional Minister, has called on Zongo Communities not to serve as sources of conflict, violence and intimidation.

She said it was unfortunate that many politicians had over the years relied on the youth within Zongo Communities to create confusion, threaten the peace and brutalise innocent people.

Madam Horner-Sam, speaking at the inauguration of the Effia-Kwesiminstim branch of the Nasara Club at the Effiakuma Police Park, near Takoradi, said the youth of Zongo Communities must transform their areas to serve as centres of pride and excellence to become valuable assets for the development of the country.

Madam Horner-Sam urged the youth to learn employable skills, avoid violence and to serve as role models for other young people within their communities.

She stressed that if the "youth avoid being used by selfish politicians, they could become useful and politically matured individuals in the country".

Mr Joe Baidoe-Ansah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Effia-Kwesiminstim, appealed to the electorate to re-elect him for the continuation and completion of projects he had initiated in the Constituency.

He urged them to avoid all forms of violence, threat or interference before and during and after the elections, which could create instability in the country.

Alhaji R. D, Ishaq is the Chairman of the Club while Malam Issa Baru is the Vice Chairman with Mr Ibrahim Mohammed as Secretary and Bashiru Adamu as Assistant Secretary.

Mr Abdalla Tuferu is the Financial Secretary, Madam Maria Jibril, Women's Organiser, Madam Azuma, Women's Youth Organiser and Madam Taiba Abubakar, Women's Secretary.
