Fomena (Ash), March 26, GNA - The Adansi North District Assembly is to commit more than eight billion cedis, representing 90 per cent of its estimated revenue for this year on capital and development projects. The assembly, during the period hopes to generate 8.896 billion cedis from its internal and external sources.
Mr Peter K. Ameyaw, the District Chief Executive, who announced this at the meeting of the assembly at Fomena, said the budget was an ideal one intended to improve the quality of the life of the people in the district. "I am also satisfied by the fact that the budget is in line with the growth and poverty reduction strategy for accelerated poverty reduction".
The DCE said the assembly initiated some development projects last year, which were largely funded by the assembly's share of the District Assemblies Common Fund. He named a three-classroom block at Anhwiaso, the District Co-ordinating Director's bungalow, a seven-unit barracks type quarters at Fomena and the completion of area council office at Anhwiaso as some of the projects. Others included the rehabilitation of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) secretariat, construction of a fence wall around the Bodwesango day-care centre and the reshaping of Fomena town roads and the assembly's new site area.
Mr Ameyaw announced the construction of the administration block complex for the assembly, two semi-detached staff quarters and the Bobriase railway crossing and the extension of electricity to the Fumso market as some of the projects due for implementation this year. He said under the Community-Based Rural Development Project (CBRDP), which is aimed at rural poverty reduction and capacity building for effective local government system, an amount of 92,000 dollars would be released to the assembly over a three-year period. "Thirty per cent of this amount is expected this year and will be used to rehabilitate the Atatem Junction to Atatem road", Mr Ameyaw said.
