Accra, Nov. 1, GNA- Mr Tawiah Likpalimor, Member of Parliament (MP) for Kpandai in the East Gonja District on Tuesday decried the poor road network in his Constituency and called on the Ministry of Transportation to act with dispatch to remedy the situation.

He said the bridge linking Ketejeri and Buya was so bad that commuters had to pay between 5,000 cedis and 10,000 cedis to local guards before they are able to cross since the road is submerged in by water.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview, Mr. Likpalimor said: "The road was awarded on contract last year and since then no serious work has been done on it."

He said the Krachi-Yendi road, which was a major area for the transportation of foodstuffs especially yam was also very bad thus forcing farmers to carry their produce on their heads to marketing centres.

The MP said the Ekumdi- Salaga Bridge must be awarded on contract since it was so bad that travellers had to use canoes to cross it. " A lot of people especially traders are getting drown in the area," he said.

Mr Likpalimor however, commended the Community Water and Sanitation Agency in collaboration with civil society groups like

IBIS, Community Initiative Food Security Project for providing schools, market structures, and food processing machines to his constituents. He also praised the Volta River Resettlement Trust Fund for providing toilet facilities and potable water in the area. In another development, Mr Likpalimor had donated a motorbike valued at 10 million cedis to the Lonto Police Station to help the personnel to contact their District Headquarters at Salaga.
