Akyem Swedru, Nov 20, GNA - An ex-sergeant of the Military Police was on Monday installed the Apagyahene of the Akyem Bosome Traditional Area under the stool name Nana Obeng Asiedu. The 47-year-old Apagyahene swore the oath of allegiance to Nana Professor Asante Kodan 11, the Akwamuhene of the traditional area who is also the Acting President of the traditional council. Nana Obeng Asiedu, who had stayed in Canada for several years, pledged to support the chiefs to unite the people in the area towards speedy development.

He said with the support of Akyem Bosome residents in Canada he would set up a scholarship scheme to support brilliant but needy students to be able to complete senior secondary school. The Apagyahene appealed to parents to take advantage of the Capitation Grant to send their children to school instead of engaging them on farming and other economic activities. Nana Asante Kodan later advised the Apagyahene to put his rich experience at the disposal of the traditional council to ensure progress in the area.

He reminded him of the great task ahead of him but urged him not to be undaunted and to prove equal to the task. Nana Asante Kodan assured him of the fullest cooperation of the other chiefs to help move the traditional area forward and urged him not to hesitate to approach them for any assistance.
