Tepa (Ash), Nov. 21, GNA - Tepa Traditional Council has realised 86 million cedis through fund-raising to provide accommodation for the staff of Tepa Secondary School.
The Omanhene of Tepa Traditional Council, Nana Adusei Atwenewah Ampem, disclosed this last Sunday during an open forum organised at the Omanhene's palace as part of activities to mark the eighth annual Akwasidae festival. He praised the Tepa citizens' resident at Toronto, Canada, for mobilising resources to ship some hospital equipment worth several thousands of dollars meant for Tepa District Hospital to help improve health delivery in the district.
The Omanhene regretted the people's response to social gatherings and advised them to change their attitude, explaining that such meetings are used to discuss matters concerning their welfare and also used as a platform to give chance to individuals to let their views heard.
The District Chief Executive, Nana Eric Agyemang Prempeh, said the youth employment programme is on course and advised the youth in the district to register with the youth co-ordinator for placement.
He said currently, 281 youth have been employed as waste management corps, teachers assistants, and vegetable farmers. The District Police Commander, Mr. Nicholas Opare Ofosuhene, appealed to the public to volunteer information on Indian hemp and other narcotic dealers in the district to the police for them to be arrested and put before court.
During the four-hour meeting, the public raised a number of issues, including the operation of the District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme, education, unreliable electricity and water supply, sanitation, road safety, health delivery and the services of the district fire service personnel.
