Kumasi, Nov. 22, GNA - Nine teachers from the United Kingdom, who undertook a five-week educational exchange programme in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma (BAK) district of Ashanti, have ended their tour.
During the tour, the teachers held workshops especially on English Language and Mathematics, and shared experiences in teaching and learning, classroom management and leadership with local school heads. The beneficiary schools and communities were Aburaso, Nyweneso number 1, Kuntanase, Konkori, Brofoyedru, Adagya, Asaago, Feyiase and Pranyase.
Speaking at a farewell lunch for the teachers in Kumasi on Tuesday, Mrs Dora Doris Amaniampong, BAK district director of education, thanked the LCD and the GTs for selecting the district for the programme. She said the knowledge and experience acquired would impact positively on the performance of the local teachers in classroom delivery and school management.
She said the beneficiary headmasters and teachers would be made to share their experiences with other teachers in the district to help improve education delivery.
Dr Kennedy Quaigrain, LCD Ghana Programme Director, said in spite of some initial difficulties, the programme sailed through successfully. He commended the host schools and communities as well as the district directorate of education for the effective support and collaboration, which ensured the success of the programme. The teachers expressed gratitude about the warm hospitality of the people, especially the host families, teachers and pupils in the schools.
They observed that, Ghanaian school children were always desperate to learn new things and appealed to the local teachers to focus more attention on the teaching of the English language to enable the pupils communicate effectively.
