Busunya (B/A), Dec. 23, GNA 96 The Parents Teacher Association (PTA) of the Busunya Senior Secondary School in the Nkoranza District in the Brong-Ahafo have assisted the school with 150 million cedis towards the completion of two school projects.
The projects are a dinning hall and a housemistress's bungalow. Mr Kingsley Kwabena Yeboah, Chairman of the PTA announced this when he addressed members at an end of year meeting at Busunya. He said the parents paid the initial contribution of 100,000 cedis each per student and added that a special fund raising harvest would be organized to raise additional funds.
Mr Yeboah advised the parents to visit the school periodically to interact with the teachers about the performance of their children as well as challenges facing them.
He urged them to ensure that their children did not move in the company of their peers with questionable character as that could lead them to indulge in social vices. Mr Yeboah commended the staff of the school for their hard work and efforts that had led the school to achieve good results and gave the assurance that the PTA would not relent in efforts to reward deserving teachers.
In an address read for him, Mr Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, District Director of Education expressed appreciation for the effective collaboration between the parents and staff of the school. He commended the headmaster, Mr Abubakari Ankomah and staff for their efforts towards the growth of the school and appealed to the parents to consider the plight of the teachers and arrange for some incentive packages for them.
In a welcoming address, Mr Ankomah appealed to the District Assembly to help construct a block of three classrooms for the school. He disclosed that the school obtained 99.9 percent record at this year's West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination with about 15 of the students making grades that qualified them for admission into universities.
