Sekondi, Jan 12, GNA - The Western Region does not have a photographic gallery and its archival building has not been completed since 1978.

The gallery and building would assist the Public Records and Archives Administration Department (PRAAD) to properly sort, store and document all relevant developments and changes that occur in the region.

Mr Joseph Justice Turton-Mensah, Western Regional Director of PRAAD, said this to Ghana News Agency in an interview at Sekondi on Wednesday.

He said an exhibition on the Western Region's contribution to the Ghana's independence would be mounted in March to coincide with the "Ghana at 50" celebrations.

The exhibition would focus on individuals who worked in the Western Region and later assumed political power.

It will also focus on westerners working in several parts of the country, libraries in the region, schools, hospitals, universities, mining, past managing directors of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, military, police, railways, old trains, Sekondi location, chiefs, queen mothers, individuals, Members of Parliament and all Western Regional ministers both past and present.

Mr Turton-Mensah said the exhibition is meant to awaken the people of the Region to properly keep records of important developments in the region.
