Lightning strikes four people to death

Nayoko (U/E), June 22, GNA- Four persons died simultaneously during a severe rainstorm, which was characterised by lightning and thunder that hit two nearby villages in the Bawku Municipality on Thursday evening. Three persons died at Nayoko No.1 whilst the fourth person died at Aweedi. Joseph Ndego 31, Shietu Amadu, 42, and mother of three children and Safia, 68, an aunt of Ndego, died at Nayoko No.1 and Bukari Musah, 34, died at Aweedi.

Nayoko (U/E), June 22, GNA- Four persons died simultaneously during a severe rainstorm, which was characterised by lightning and thunder that hit two nearby villages in the Bawku Municipality on Thursday evening. Three persons died at Nayoko No.1 whilst the fourth person died at Aweedi. Joseph Ndego 31, Shietu Amadu, 42, and mother of three children and Safia, 68, an aunt of Ndego, died at Nayoko No.1 and Bukari Musah, 34, died at Aweedi. Mr. Robert Asamah, a brother of Ndego who spoke to the GNA, said Ndego died instantly when he was returning home on his bicycle after visiting the toilet. Mr. Asamah said Safia who was hit when she was dressing in front of a mirror in her room, died after a native doctor attempted to resuscitate her. Amadu was said to be sitting in front of her door when she was hit by lighting and died instantly. Musah had his thatch-roof house ripped off as the lightning strike and he fell unconscious and died when he was being rushed to a health centre.
