Wa, Oct. 5, GNA - As part of measures to conserve and promote the effective and efficient use of energy, the government has provided 2,000 compact florescent bulbs for the replacement of energy consuming bulbs in the Upper West Region. Under the Energy Saving Project, all energy consuming bulbs are to be replaced free of charge and anybody caught selling the bulbs would be punished.

The compact florescent bulbs consume only 20 per cent of electricity and it is expected that more electricity would be saved for the country after the exercise.

He said six million bulbs had been imported by the government and that the 2,000 bulbs were meant to begin the exercise and called on the local people cooperate with personnel of the project to ensure the smooth implementation of the exercise.
