Principal of Wa Polytechnic worry about immoral behaviour in schools

Wa, Oct. 14, GNA - Professor Sampson Agodzo, Principal of the Wa Polytechnic has expressed concern about the immoral behaviour of some teaching staff and students in some institutions to gain favours in the award of high marks in examinations.

He advised male lecturers that no matter how attractive the female students are, they should exercise extreme self-control in the discharge of their professional duties.

Professor Agodzo gave the advice at the 5th Matriculation of the Wa Polytechnic at Wa on Saturday where 508 fresh students made

up of 322 tertiary and 186 non-tertiary students admitted to the

Polytechnic for the 2007/2008 academic year swore an oath to obey

its rules and regulations. He advised female students who deliberately hunted for favours

from their male lecturers to desist from such dishonest ways of

earning an academic qualification. He told the students that any form of cheating in any kind of

examinations in the Polytechnic would attract the highest penalty of

expulsion from the institution. "We are not in the business of training students to acquire

ill-gotten qualifications since the economic consequences of

dishonest people with ill-gotten qualifications in positions of authority

will be too high a price to pay as a nation", he warned Professor Agodzo advised students of the Polytechnic that the

government built infrastructure at great cost to train them and urged

them to use the appropriate channels to address all

misunderstandings between them and management and avoid

resorting to the destruction of property. On HIV/AIDS and other social vices, Professor Agodzo warned the

students to be wise in the things that they do especially, they should

avoid bad company and the use of illicit drugs. "Remember AIDS is real and that condom sense is not always

common sense because the condom is man-made and also not full

proof and you must live to justify the huge investments being made in you".
