Dromankese (B/A), Nov. 19, GNA- The people of Dromankese in the Nkoranza North District Of Brong Ahafo have launched a multi-million cedi two-year development programme.
Projects envisaged include the construction of a community centre, a town council office, teachers' bungalows and extension of electricity power to the Anglican and Seventh Day Adventist Junior High Schools. Mr Daniel Opoku, Assembly Member for Ahenbronomu electoral area in Dromankese told the Ghana News Agency that, the projects would be funded through contributions by the people and fund raising harvests. He said since Dromankese was one of the largest communities in the newly created Nkoranza North district, there was the need for the people to initiate development programmes.
Mr Opoku urged the people to support the unit committee and the traditional authorities so that together they could promote the accelerated development of the area.
Mr Kwasi Awuah, Chairman of the Dromankese town council, commended the government for the creation of the district and appealed to the government to award the Nkoranza-Dromankese-Atebubu highway on contract to facilitate the movement of the people and their farm produce. Mr Awuah urged the Nkoranza District Assembly to extend electricity to newly developed areas of the town. Mr Edward Opoku-Danso, Chairman of Unit 'A' and 'B' committees of the area complained about the lack of places of convenience and appealed to the Assembly to assist. Meanwhile, the people have constructed a police station to help check the crime wave in the area.
