Accra, Sept.30, GNA - Maulvi Abdul Wahad Adam, Ameer and Missionary-in-Charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim mission, Ghana, on Tuesday urged religious bodies, not to only pray for a peaceful 2008 elections but to also educate their members to observe election rules. "Christians and Muslims alike should not only pray, but also back their prayers with the constant education of its members to be honest in the observance of the rules and regulations that govern elections in the country". Maulvi Adam, who was speaking on the occasion of the missions' celebration of the Eid-Ul-Fitr, said it was the duty of all concerned to ensure a free, fair, transparent and violence free elections during and after the exercise. He said the existence of the Inter Party Advisory Committee (IPAC), where all the political parties discuss matters affecting them is a laudable initiative and a great step forward. Maulvi Adam said the Holy Prophet of Islam who eschews foul talk and evil deeds, makes this year's fasting more relevant in the Ghanaian situation, in view of the impending elections. He added that one of the five pillars of Islam, fasting in the blessed month of Ramadan, has the primary objective of instilling in Muslims, discipline, self-control, tolerance and above all the spirit of repentance, forgiveness and goodwill towards all.
