Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), June 2, GNA - The Dormaa-Ahenkro Local Council of Churches, an umbrella organization of Christian religious groups in Dormaa-Ahenkro, has commended Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, Paramount Chief of Dormaa Traditional Area for his commitment to the promotion of education.
The Reverend Felix John Yeboah, Chairman of the Council, made the commendation in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) shortly after the Dormaahene met with the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, Most Rev. Leon Kalenga and discussed the need for formal education for the youth to prepare them for future leadership.
Rev. Yeboah said Osagyefo's name was synonymous with the Dormaaman educational endowment fund, which remained one of the biggest achievements of the chief and the traditional council. He expressed satisfaction particularly with the consistency with which the chief had impressed on opinion leaders in the area to honour and cherish formal education.
"The Omanhene's zeal and enthusiasm for quality and affordable education is a mark of excellence worthy of emulation by other stakeholders in education," he said.
Rev. Yeboah noted that the chief's enticing lifestyle had lured many organisations and agencies in the area to participate in educational programmes and contribute in terms of material and campaign strategies, to whip up interest among school children, their parents and guardians.
He called on children at all levels of education to learn hard to justify the chief's moral and material investment in education, and to refrain from engaging in acts that could jeopardize their future. "A successful graduate would be a desirable gift, whereas any failures would dent the King's ambitions and deal a bruising defeat to his programmes," Rev. Yeboah said.
