Alhaji Ali Manina installed new Koforidua Zongo Chief

Koforidua, July 5, GNA - Alhaji Ali Hamina, a 56 year old businessman based in Nigeria, was installed the new Koforidua Zongo Chief under the stool name Alhaji Ali Hamina Krumi IV, at a ceremony at Koforidua over the weekend.

He succeeded his late father, Alhaji Jibril Hamina Krumi III who passed away early this year.

At the swearing in ceremony attended by Muslims from all walks of life, Nana Akwasi Adarkwa III, Chief of Abesim who represented Daasebre Oti Boateng, Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area, congratulated the new Zongo Chief and urged him to use his experience to help develop the area.

He urged him to collaborate with all stakeholders particularly in the Zongo Communities and the New Juaben Traditional Area in general to ensure that the area got its fair share of the national cake. Nana Adarkwa said the only way the new chief could succeed was to respect his subjects and therefore cautioned him against discrimination. He urged the chief to consider everybody as a brother or sister irrespective of where the person was coming from and respect each person's view.

The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Baba Jamal, expressed concerned about the perceived disunity among the Muslim Communities in the region and the nation in general and urged them to see themselves as one people with a common destiny.

He urged them to burry their differences and join forces to fight a common goal for more development projects in the Zongo Communities. The guest of honour, Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Sadique, former Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, congratulated the new Zongo Chief and urged him to ensure that unity prevailed among the various ethnic groups in the community.

He urged Muslims to take the education of their children seriously and ensure that they invested in them.

The occasion was used to perform the final funeral rites of the late Zongo Chief.
