Ashaiman-Lebanon, June 6, GNA - Numo Adinortey Addison, Ashaiman Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has said the school shift system in government schools, would end in the Municipality by next academic year. The Ashaiman Municipal Assembly (ASHMA), he said, would therefore have to provide additional 40 classrooms for public schools in the Municipality. Numo Addison made these disclosures at a cultural show organized jointly by Martin Luther King Junior Schools (Asahaiman-Lebanon and Zenu) and New Happy Home Academy (Ashaiman-New Town and Roman), in collaboration with the Ashaiman Divisional Council, to commemorate this year's Africa Day celebration at the premises of Martin Luther King School at Ashaiman-Lebanon.
The impressive ceremony saw pupils and students of the schools, exhibiting talents on the cultural values of the continent on the theme: "Promoting African Heritage."
The MCE hinted that the next stage would be to end the shift system in the Mission or Unit Schools.
He commended the management, staff and pupils of the Schools for coming out with the programme, and expressed the hope that such cultural activities depicting African values, would be organized regularly by schools, to unearth talents in the children, and to help imbue in them the cultural heritage and values of the African society. Mr Emmanuel Max-Voy, Director of the schools, said the time has come for Africans to take their inheritance as people of the African descent. "I have a dream that the time for Africa is now. The whole world is looking to us to take up the challenge and transform and effect the world, yes, we can," he stressed.
Through African dressing and fashion, art and drama, music, dance, poetry and theatre, the school children showcased within a colourful environment, the diverse cultural values on the Continent.
