Wa, July 4, GNA - Madam Ruby Yap, an official with Voluntary Service Overseas, a non-governmental organisation, has called on the youth to give maximum attention to their educational pursuit in order to fulfil their future dreams.
She also asked them to eschew social vices, which she said have the tendency of ruining their future. Madam Yap made the call in Wa on Saturday at the launch of the "Young People Compass", a youth activist tourist club, aimed at harnessing the talents of young people for socio-economic development. The programme was on the theme: "Harnessing talents for socio-economic development."
Madam Yap urged executives of the club to endeavour to create educative and entertaining platforms for children to showcase their hidden talents to the rest of the world. Mr Cezar Kale, Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, said in a speech read on his behalf that children are the windows of hope for the country and should therefore be provided with the necessary guidance that would lead them into a brighter future.
He stressed that the development of Ghana largely depends on the success of the youth.
Mr Kale therefore advised them to be disciplined and obedient in school and at home in order to get the necessary support to succeed in future. Mr Luke Dabuoh, the Club's Coordinator said the programme would draw the attention of the public especially to the objectives of the body. One of such objectives he said is to create a platform for young people to showcase their talents in singing, dancing and acting, in a manner that is entertaining and enlightening. 4 July 10
