Agona Swedru, July 18, GNA - Mr Fredrick Kobina Selby, Head of Legal Department of the West Africa Examination Council, (WAEC) at the weekend presented 40 pieces of Wax prints towards the upkeep of the Agona Swedru flood victims.

Presenting the cloths, Mr Selby expressed the hope that the items would help solve some of the predicaments of the victims, following the floods a month ago, which deprived them of their property.

He said he decided to go to the aid of the victims because the government alone could not shoulder the burden of caring for their needs.

Mr Selby, a citizen of Agona Swedru, appealed to the government, diplomatic missions, well-to-do Ghanaians and foreign philanthropists to support the victims and also assist in the reconstruction of the two broken-down bridges over River Akora, which passes through the town.

The reconstruction of the bridges, he said, would relieve the people of some of their major problems.

Nana Kobina Botwe II, Swedruhene, who received the items on behalf of the victims, thanked the benefactor for his gesture and appealed to other citizens of Agona to assist their kin.

He assured Mr Selby that he would engage the assembly members in the affected communities to ensure that the items were distributed equitably to the satisfaction of the beneficiaries.

Nana Botwe said the people of Agona Swedru were going through difficulties in the areas of education, health, transportation and trading as a result of the collapse of the two bridges, which were yet to be constructed, 30 days ago after their destruction.
