Accra, July 22, GNA - The people of Danchira, a farming community in Ga South Municipality on Wednesday raised 91eyebrows' over the conduct of the Police in recent disturbances in the area that led to the death of three people.

They are questioning the Police why it granted police enquiry bail to two suspects arrested following a bench warrant issued by a court.

Addressing a press conference in Accra, Nii Akai Nettey, Chairman of the Executive Council of Elders, Danchira, noted that the release of the suspects had created tension since relatives of the deceased 93could not bear to see the presence of those directly involved in the murder at Danchira."

The suspects, Bonsu Bi Dodoo and Ayi Aboo Bi Okai, were sent to the Police Headquarters in connection with the murder.

Nii Nettey alleged that the situation had also caused commotion at the Criminal Investigation Department at the Police Headquarters because a relative of one of the deceased pointed out the perpetrator when asked to identify the suspects.

He noted that the suspects were released on bail by the Police Administration and after that residents of Denchira were cautioned against any citizen's arrest.

Nii Nettey said if citizens of Danchira see suspects being sought for and failed to arrest them, what then was the use of citizen's arrest stipulated in constitution.

He asked the Police Administration why the case docket should be transferred to the Police Headquarters from the Greater Accra Regional Police Headquarters, and in addition, failed to arrest Dodu Lomotey, an ex-commandant of the Police Training School among other persons.

Nii Nettey said the people of Danchira were running out of patience and would advice themselves if the Minister of Interior and the Attorney General failed to act.

"We cannot sit down unconcerned and watch our children die. We would advise ourselves by doing the right thing," Nii Nettey added.

On March 23 this year, three people were murdered during some disturbances at Danchira resulting in the destruction of properties and loss of lives

Following the disturbances, 22 people were arrested and remanded by the court.

However, some of the suspects escaped and the Police are currently looking for them.
