Tamale, Aug 5, GNA - Alhaji Harunah Friday, the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, has inaugurated 139,871 Ghana cedis Out-Patient-Department for the Tamale West Hospital.
The construction of the ward was largely financed by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) under the District Wide Assistance Project (DWAP) programme with counterpart funding from the Assembly's share of the Common Fund.
Alhaji Friday appealed to the hospital authorities to manage the facility well and ensure that a peaceful environment was created.
Dr. Bashiru Abdul-Majeed, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, said the department would help reduce pressure on the hospital.
He said part of the facility would be used as a theatre for doctors who hitherto had to wait for their colleagues to do finish operations in the only theatre before they could also carry out theirs.
Alhaji Friday commended CIDA and the Assembly for the facility and expressed the hope that more interventions would be made to improve upon facilities in the hospital.
Alhaji Friday also inspected work on the on-going construction of the Assembly Complex being funded out of the Assemblies Common Fund at the cost of GHc 1,353,053.76.00.
He inspected others projects at Koilmahagu and at Ghana Senior High School.
The MCE also inspected a rehabilitated assembly grader to be used for minor works on the roads in the Metropolis and road markings and rumble stripes at various locations within Tamale.
