Mills donates to muslims

Sekondi, 9 Sept. GNA - President John Evans Atta Mills, on Wednesday donated food items to Chief Imams of the Alsuna, Tijania and Ahmadyya Muslims in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis towards the celebration of the Eidul Fitr festival.

Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, made the presentation that include 100 bags of rice and ten cartons of cooking oil, on behalf of the President, on Wednesday in Sekondi.


The Minister said the Western Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) had also donated food items to Muslims in the 17 Districts in the Region towards the celebration of the Ramadan festival.


These include 200 bags of rice, 150 bags of sugar, 1,000 mats and 250 bags each of maize and beans.


Mr Aidoo commended Muslims in the Region for maintaining peace and unity and called on them to sustain the gesture for development.

He congratulated them for successfully going through the one month fasting and asked them to let the lesions and experiences of the event guide them in their daily activities.


Alhaji Sani Abdulai, Deputy Western Regional Chief Imam, thanked the President and the RCC for the gesture and gave the assurance that Muslims in the Region would peacefully co-exist with other members of religious organisations.


He prayed for the President and his team to enable them to peaceful administer the country.
