Nkoranza (B/A), Sept 22, GNA - A 10-day training workshop organised by the Ghana Statistical Service for 200 Population and Housing Census enumerators and supervisors in Nkoranza South District, has ended at Nkoranza.

The participants were educated on the importance of the Census, definition of household, qualities of an enumerator or supervisor and roles and responsibilities of enumerators and supervisors. Mr Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Nkoranza South District Chief Executive, asked the enumerators and supervisors to cover all places to ensure the compilation of accurate data for national development. He also called on them to be polite to their clients in order to obtain credible information from household heads and to avoid politicization of the exercise.

Mr Agyekum asked religious leaders to sensitize their congregations on the importance of the impending Census to enable them to actively participate in it.

Mr. Paul Adumuah, Nkoranza South District Statistical Officer, reminded the enumerators and supervisors that the "Census Night" would serve as a "Reference Point" to all the discussions and statements on the questionnaire regarding the Census.

He appealed to them to liaise with Assembly Members, Unit Committees and traditional authorities to organise events on the Census night to make it significant and historic.

Mr Adumuah advised the enumerators and supervisors not to demand gifts from their clients and asked clients not to demand money from enumerators before giving them information. Madam Philippa Banson, Nkoranza District Director of Education, asked teachers, who have been recruited to work as enumerators, to work hard to ensure the success of the Census.
