Bono East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ibrahim Baba Bukari
The Bono East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ibrahim Baba Bukari, has raised concerns over what he describes as suspicious circumstances surrounding the shooting to death of his brother, Seidu Bukari, during a nighttime police operation in Techiman.
Ibrahim Baba Bukari has strongly refuted the police’s version of events, accusing them of fabricating the robbery narrative as a cover-up for what he describes as a reckless, unprofessional, and inhumane operation that resulted in the tragic and untimely death of his brother.
According to him, the police's claim that his brother was involved in a robbery is entirely false and was deliberately concocted to justify their excessive use of force during the incident, which took place at his private residence in Techiman.
“This so-called robbery story is nothing but a desperate attempt to shield themselves from accountability. My brother was leaving my house when he was shot. There was no robbery, no crime as they want people to believe, just a senseless and unlawful killing carried out under the guise of law enforcement.”
Recounting the harrowing events that led to his younger brother’s death on July 31, 2025, Ibrahim Baba Bukari stressed that the police operation raises serious concerns and has left him with the strong conviction that he, not his brother, was the intended target of the attack.
“The police shot and killed my brother, but I am sure it was not a random incident, and I was the main target of that operation.”
The grieving family, who are pointing accusing fingers at the police, are calling on the Inspector General of Police, COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, for an independent investigation into the deliberate and unjustifiable killing of Seidu Bukari by the police.
