The education director has urged young women to seize opportunities and prioritise success at CAMFED
Dr Obaapanin Adu Oforiwaa, Director of General Administration and Consular Services at the University of Media, Arts and Communication, has urged young women to seize opportunities and prioritise their future success.
Dr Oforiwaa shared her insights in an interview with the media during the 2025 Tertiary Convening organised by CAMFED Ghana at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.
Speaking to the young women present, Dr Adu Oforiwaa emphasised the importance of recognising and capitalising on opportunities.
"Being sponsored through higher education is a great opportunity, and I urge you not to take it for granted. Take your studies seriously, and don't disappoint the donor, because we all put in our resources for a particular output."
She encouraged the students to challenge themselves and take on leadership positions.
"One of the students just walked up to me and said she contested for some leadership position in her university. She didn't win, but she took a step, and I encouraged her not to give up. So these are some of the things we want to see our young women take up."
Through its Tertiary Scholarship Program, CAMFED Ghana currently supports 781 marginalised young women across various public tertiary institutions in Ghana.
The comprehensive support package covers tuition, accommodation, stipends, and other academic-related expenses for the duration of their programs, empowering these young women to pursue their educational goals and contribute to their communities.
Previously indicated, she said this during the CAMFED convening at the KNUST.
Hosted by CAMFED Ghana, the non-profit organisation brought together young women benefiting from CAMFED's Tertiary Scholarship Program, along with educators and stakeholders.
Meanwhile, some of the student participants who spoke to the media expressed joy over how the convening program had been very beneficial to them.
Adding that they were going to make good use of the opportunities they have grabbed, to earn a meaningful living in society.
