This particular situation could have been handled more effectively. Allowing commercial vehicles to operate in the area during such sensitive operations only adds to the congestion and risks. A more strategic approach would involve sealing off all vehicular and pedestrian traffic on the streets and temporarily relocating traders in the vicinity. This would create a controlled environment, enabling law enforcement to address the mob that inevitably gathers near the police station. The justification of mitigating casualties does not adequately address the shortcomings in operational management.

But the community leaders need to be engaged on a regular basis to drive home the dire effects illegal mining has on the people, their health and survival. Also a major agricultural program needs to target theses communities, also the former presidents one district one factory agenda should be visited. The key is create alternative livelihoods for them.

This is a disgrace to the NDC, the government, and the entire country! How can a sitting MP and a national board member behave this way?

He has embarrassed the President, the party, and the good people he represents. He must be removed from the NIB Board immediately!

The agricultural sector (which should be modernized to absorb the excess labor force) is mute and one hardly hear of any policy announcements from that sector.
