Residents of Offinso Old Town in the Ashanti Region are calling for the urgent installation of street lights, road signs, and markings along the Offinso-Aboffuo highway.
The appeal follows a recent fatal accident that claimed three lives when a trailer collided with a mini truck on the main bridge connecting Ahenkro and Offinso.
In an interview with OTEC News reporter Kwame Agyenim on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, residents blamed the lack of lighting, road signs, and markings, particularly along the stretch from Ahenkro to Offinso Old Town, for the frequent accidents on the road.
"That particular area, where the Offin River is located, always records dangerous accidents, mainly because it is too dark," said Oteng, a commercial driver.
"We believe installing lights will improve visibility and reduce motor accidents," Oteng added.
Residents are appealing to the authorities and the Ghana Highway Authority to urgently address the issue.
