Ghana’s child rights efforts earn global recognition through Zuwera Ibrahimah

Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, Member of Parliament for Salaga South, has represented Ghana at a global event in Geneva, showcasing the country’s efforts to promote child rights.

The event, which focused on child rights, was described as a major success, with Ghana receiving applause for its positive interventions.

Zuwera Mohammed highlighted several national initiatives, including efforts to ensure parity between boys and girls in schools, as well as the deployment of mobile registration processes to register new births in rural communities.

She also spoke about the role of Parliament’s Gender Committee in monitoring and providing oversight for shelters catering to vulnerable and displaced persons.

The MP further shed light on the government’s approach to tackling drug abuse among teenagers, noting the establishment of Narcotics Control Commission offices in district capitals to bring services closer to citizens.

The Ghanaian delegation was led by the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
