Akatsi South MP, MCE to cut sod for 20 boreholes to tackle water scarcity

The Member of Parliament for Akatsi South, Bernard Ahiafor, in collaboration with the Municipal Chief Executive, Daniel Dagba, is expected to cut the sod for the drilling and mechanisation of 20 new boreholes across the Akatsi South Municipality.

The project forms part of sustained efforts to address the long-standing challenge of water scarcity in communities and public institutions, particularly CHPS compounds and health facilities, which have been prioritised under the intervention.

According to sources close to the Member of Parliament and the Municipal Chief Executive, the initiative is aimed at ending what authorities describe as the generational burden of inadequate access to potable water, while improving sanitation, healthcare delivery, and overall living conditions for residents.

The boreholes will be drilled and mechanised at the following locations: Wute Health Centre, Sremanu CHPS Compound, Gonikope CHPS Compound, Kpodzivi CHPS Compound, Cuniberto Health Centre, Assembly Premises, Livega CHPS Compound, Zuta-Tsapuni, Asafotsi CHPS Compound, Ahlepede CHPS Compound, Akatsi Main Market, Afatsableve, Havi-Godome, Yaluvl, Netokope, Kpevi, Akplakpope, Adrakpo, Anyiheme Lower-Fiato, and Avenor Technical Institute.

The project is expected to bring relief to residents, health workers, and traders who have, for years, struggled with unreliable water supply, while also supporting improved healthcare delivery and economic activity in the municipality.

Residents and community leaders have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that demonstrates commitment to grassroots development and improved access to basic social amenities in Akatsi South.
