The deplorable classroom block in Amokrom
Residents of Amokrom in the Ahafo Ano South East District of the Ashanti Region are sounding the alarm over the deplorable condition of their only Junior High School (JHS) classroom block, which they describe as a death trap for teachers and students.
The classroom blocks and teachers' bungalow are in a state of disrepair, posing a significant threat to the lives of students in the community.
According to residents, several appeals have been made to the former MP, Hon. Francis Manu Adabor, regarding the state of the classroom blocks, but to no avail.
The situation has become so dire that many teachers posted to the community have left, leaving only four, who are also facing accommodation challenges.
Residents are calling on authorities to provide the necessary infrastructure to improve teaching and learning in the area.
In response, the current MP for Ahafo Ano South East Constituency, Mohammed Yakubu, assured the community of improved classroom blocks this year, stating that the government is committed to delivering on its promises.
He also urged residents to exercise patience as he works to address their poor road networks and other pressing needs.
The District Chief Executive, Ibrahim Yamba Nelson Issaka, called on residents to support the government and contribute to development through tax payments.
