The Ashanti South Regional Police Command received a boost on January 22, 2026, as the Member of Parliament for Bekwai Constituency, Ralph Poku-Adusei, paid a courtesy visit to the Command's headquarters in Bekwai.
The visit, which was aimed at officially introducing himself to the new Regional Commander, DCOP Joseph Nyaba and his team, underscored the MP's commitment to fostering a strong partnership with the police to ensure peace and security in the constituency.
During his address, Poku-Adusei commended the Command for its remarkable achievements in combating crime and related activities, which have earned the recognition and commendation of the Inspector General of Police.
He noted that the promotion of over 50 personnel in the Command was a testament to the team's dedication and hard work.
The MP expressed his intention to collaborate with the Command to maintain peace and security in the constituency, including providing support for the establishment of police posts in critical areas to address security concerns.
He also pledged to follow up on ongoing projects and priority needs at the parliamentary, interior ministry and Police Headquarters levels.
Poku-Adusei emphasised the need to protect the youth by intensifying security checks at locations prone to violence and other illegal activities, citing the recent incident at Green Annex, a popular pub in Bekwai, as a wake-up call.
DCOP Nyaba, in his response, reiterated the Command's efforts to reduce crime levels, ensure prompt resolution and prosecution of issues, and complete ongoing projects, including the regional Police Command office, staff quarters, gym and cafeteria.
He welcomed the MP's support and assured him of the Command's commitment to maintaining peace and security in the constituency.
The visit marked a significant milestone in the partnership between the Bekwai MP's office and the Ashanti South Regional Police Command, with both parties expressing optimism about a fruitful collaboration in the future.
