The new Commanding Officer of the Artillery Training School, Akoefe, Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Quaye, has paid a courtesy call on Togbe Kodi Adiko VI, Paramount Chief of the Tanyigbe Traditional Area, to formally introduce himself and reaffirm the long-standing relationship between the Training School and the people of Tanyigbe.

The visit, which took place at the Palace on Friday, January 23, formed part of Lt Col Quaye’s engagements following his assumption of command at the Artillery Training School earlier this month.

He explained that the call was to pay homage to the custodians of the land and to strengthen the cordial relationship that has existed over the years between the school and the traditional authorities.

Lt Col Quaye recalled the history of cooperation between the Artillery Training School and the Tanyigbe Traditional Area and assured the chiefs and elders of his commitment to deepening collaboration for mutual benefit.

He also expressed appreciation to representatives of the chiefs and people of Tanyigbe for attending the handing-over and taking-over ceremony between himself and the outgoing Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aturie, held on 12th January 2026.

Responding, Togbe Kodi Adiko VI reflected on the early establishment of the Artillery Training School during the reign of his predecessor, Togbe Kwasi Adiko V, including the ceding of portions of Tanyigbe land for the project.

He noted that since then, the school and the community have coexisted peacefully, with shared benefits.

The Paramount Chief commended the Artillery Training School for its consistent support of Tanyigbe, particularly during the annual Yam Festival.

He highlighted the school’s role during the Health Walk, where personnel provide security, coordinate activities, and conduct drills that promote physical fitness among participants.

He further praised the school’s regular presence at traditional functions and its contribution to maintaining law and order in the area.

During the interaction, Togbe Kodi Adiko VI and the elders appealed to the Commanding Officer to consider the youth of Tanyigbe, both males and females, whenever opportunities arise for the engagement of Defence Civilian Staff at the Artillery Training School.

He also called for closer collaboration between the school and traditional authorities to help address the growing drug abuse challenge affecting the youth in the Tanyigbe and Akoefe Traditional Areas.

The chiefs and elders present at the meeting include Mamaga Klu Adiko II, Paramount Queenmother; Togbe Amewakunu Kwasi Danku IV, Chief of the Etoe Division; Zikpuitor Enos Adiko Mensa, Stool Father of the Kodi Stool; Sorhefiaga Delali Quao, Tanyigbe Youth Leader; Togbe Eblu Katteh I, Chief of the Vlivi Sub-Division; Togbe Kwasi Tutu II, Nutefewofia of Tanyigbe; Isaac Tawiah Gbortsu, Secretary; Fiator Dickson Biney; Fiator Sampson Dzawu; Enos Abredu, High Priest of Tanyigbe; as well as representatives of all sixteen (16) clans of Tanyigbe.

Lt Col Quaye was accompanied by members of his entourage, including Captain Baako, Adjutant; SWO I Arde, Regimental Sergeant Major; SWO II Sossu; Lance Corporal Anyima; and Lance Corporal Amoako.

The visit underscored the enduring partnership between the Ghana Armed Forces and traditional authorities in promoting peace, security, and community development.
