The initiative is expected to provide beneficiary schools with high-speed internet access
The Ministry of Education has received a donation of 50 Starlink satellite units to support the expansion of digital learning in Ghana, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach schools.
The initiative aims to improve internet connectivity and bridge the digital divide in selected public schools across the country.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Ministry, the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, expressed profound appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a timely intervention that aligns with the government’s vision of transitioning Ghana towards digital education and digital schools.
He emphasised that access to reliable internet connectivity is critical for enhancing teaching, learning, innovation, and global exposure for students, especially those in underserved communities.
Also speaking at the event, Olivia Opare, Director of the Science Education Unit of the Ghana Education Service, noted that the intervention would enable learners to easily access information, improve learning outcomes, and develop critical digital skills, positioning Ghana to remain competitive in the digital era.
The initiative is expected to provide beneficiary schools with high-speed internet access, enabling students and teachers to participate in virtual learning, access global educational resources, and develop essential digital competencies.
The Ministry of Education reiterated its commitment to working with partners to leverage technology in delivering inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all Ghanaian learners.
