The Council of State Member for the Volta Region, Dr Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, has held an engagement session with Members of Parliament from the Volta Region at a caucus retreat, describing the interaction as both “humbling and deeply affirming.”

The engagement, held on on Sunday, February 1, 2026, brought together MPs from the region, focusing on leadership, development priorities, accountability, and the broader future of the Volta Region within Ghana’s national development agenda.

Dr Kwamigah-Atokple said he was honoured by the invitation from the Volta MPs Caucus and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to share perspectives with legislators tasked with representing the interests of their constituents at the national level.

“I was truly honoured by their invitation and grateful for the opportunity to share thoughts and reflections with colleagues who carry the heavy responsibility of representing our people at the national level,” he said in a post on Facebook.

According to him, discussions during the retreat were open and constructive, anchored on a shared concern for the progress of the Volta Region and the expectations of the people.

“Our discussions were frank, thoughtful, and grounded in a shared concern for the future of the Volta Region,” Dr Kwamigah-Atokple noted.

He added that it was encouraging to interact with MPs who demonstrate a strong awareness of both their legislative roles and their obligations to constituents.

He further observed that the atmosphere of openness and mutual respect at the retreat reinforced his belief in collaborative leadership as a pathway to development.

“The atmosphere of openness and mutual respect reinforced my belief that meaningful development is best pursued through dialogue, unity of purpose, and collective responsibility,” he stated.

The Council of State Member added that he was particularly inspired by the MPs’ reflections on leadership beyond partisan politics, with emphasis on development, accountability, and responsiveness to the people.

“I was particularly inspired by the willingness of the MPs to reflect on leadership beyond politics, focusing on development, accountability, and the need to remain visible and responsive to the people they serve,” he said, describing leadership as “a continuous learning process, strengthened by humility and guided by service.”

He expressed gratitude to the Volta MPs Caucus for the warm reception and reiterated his optimism about the region’s development prospects through collective effort.

“I leave this engagement encouraged and hopeful that, working together, we can advance the development aspirations of our region and contribute meaningfully to the progress of our beloved Republic of Ghana,” Dr Kwamigah-Atokple added.

The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts by key stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and dialogue in advancing development initiatives across the Volta Region.
