The late OTEC FM news anchor, Akwasi Owusu Achiaw, popularly known as Martin Yahaya, was laid in state on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Asewaase Methodist School Park.

The ceremony was a solemn occasion that brought together people from all walks of life to pay their last respects to the departed broadcaster.

Akwasi Achiaw was a dedicated and passionate journalist who left an indelible mark on the broadcasting industry. His untimely passing on December 25, 2025, at the age of 44, has left a void in the lives of his family, friends, and colleagues.

The ceremony was attended by traditional leaders, politicians, and dignitaries, including representatives from the Manhyia Palace and the New Patriotic Party (NPP). NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman aspirant, Odeneho Coke, paid his respects and donated GH¢3,000 to the bereaved family and OTEC FM.

Akwasi Achiaw is survived by three children, and his passing has left them and his loved ones deeply heartbroken.

He will be remembered for his professionalism and commitment to broadcasting, and his legacy will live on.
