The team paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament
The Paramount Queenmother of the Sing Traditional Area, Pognaa Salma Chaana Abdul-Razak, has paid a strategic courtesy call on Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana, to discuss the progress of the SheaPark Resource Hub project and explore avenues for strengthening Ghana’s shea industry.
The high-level meeting took place on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Parliament House in Accra.
Pognaa Salma Chaana Abdul-Razak, who serves as the Executive Secretary to the All-Region Queenmothers Association of Ghana and the official Brand Ambassador for the SheaPark Resource Hub Project, led a delegation comprising Prince Surag Dean (Diaspora Affairs), Dr Naazia Ibrahim (International Affairs), Mara-Joana Yuorpor (Community Engagements), Yahaya Seidu (Legal Affairs), Daniel Opare (Information Analyst and Media), and Wahab Adam (Financial Advisor).
The visit provided an opportunity for both parties to engage in strategic discussions on the SheaPark Resource Hub, a flagship initiative aimed at transforming the shea butter industry in Northern Ghana while creating sustainable economic opportunities for local communities.
Speaking after the meeting, the Paramount Queenmother highlighted the significance of the project in driving economic empowerment, particularly among rural women who form the backbone of Ghana’s shea sector.
She noted that the SheaPark Resource Hub is designed not only to enhance production and processing capacity but also to connect Ghana’s shea products to global markets.
“The SheaPark Resource Hub is more than a business venture; it is a symbol of our cultural heritage transformed into a modern economic engine,” she said.
According to her, collaboration with Parliament and national leadership is crucial to ensuring that the voices of traditional female leaders and women working within the shea value chain are incorporated into Ghana’s broader development agenda.
The Speaker of Parliament commended the Queenmother for her commitment to advancing the interests of women and traditional leadership within national discourse.
He praised her efforts in mobilizing the All-Region Queenmothers Association of Ghana and supporting initiatives such as affirmative action and gender-inclusive governance.
The Speaker also acknowledged her role in championing the SheaPark Resource Hub project, describing her as a natural fit for the ambassadorial position.
According to him, her advocacy and leadership continue to elevate the role of traditional authorities in national development efforts.
The meeting also touched on future plans for the SheaPark initiative, including upcoming international outreach programmes and cultural festivals intended to promote Ghana’s shea industry globally.
These activities are expected to showcase Ghana’s “Green Gold” while creating new opportunities for trade, investment, and cultural exchange.
The SheaPark Resource Hub is a comprehensive industrial and community-based initiative focused on the processing, marketing, and international distribution of shea products.
The project seeks to provide critical infrastructure, technical training, and improved market access for thousands of women collectors and processors across Northern Ghana, positioning the country as a major global player in the shea industry.
