The Member of Parliament for Afram Plains South, Joseph Appiah Boateng, has said the administration led by John Dramani Mahama has outperformed the previous government across all sectors of the economy.

According to him, improvements in infrastructure, agriculture, public finance management and economic stability demonstrate what he described as the government’s effective leadership.

Contributing to deliberations on the State of the Nation Address at a parliamentary sitting on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the MP said several development projects underway in his constituency highlight what he termed a clear difference in governance and service delivery.

He cited road projects linking communities such as Adawso to Ekye Bridge, Amanfrom to Agodeke, and Kwame Oppong Nkwanta to Akyem Agogo.

According to him, the projects are at various stages of completion and are expected to significantly improve access for farmers, traders and commuters.

Appiah Boateng, popularly known as JAB 1, expressed optimism that once completed, the projects would open up communities within the constituency and ease the long-standing difficulties residents have faced in accessing markets and social services.

The legislator also highlighted agricultural initiatives introduced by President Mahama, including the distribution of 10,000 birds to farmers under the government’s Nkokonketenkete Programme aimed at boosting local poultry production.

He explained that the initiative is intended to increase household incomes, create jobs and strengthen food security.

In addition, he noted that construction of an ultra-modern farmers’ centre in the constituency is underway. The facility, he said, will provide farmers with technical support, training and storage facilities to enhance productivity.

On public finance, the MP stated that Afram Plains South has recently received significantly higher development funding, allowing previously stalled projects to resume.

He revealed that statutory payments to district assemblies are currently up to date, enabling assembly members to perform their duties more effectively.

“President Mahama has demonstrated strong commitment to development in Afram Plains South. Over GHS18 million has been allocated to Afram Plains South for developmental projects an immense improvement compared to the GH¢300,000 received in 2024 under the previous Nana Akufo-Addo-led government,” he stated.

“Clearly, the President is working diligently for the good of the people. It therefore raises questions as to why some individuals continue to undermine and dishonour his efforts. One must ask why the persistent opposition to every positive step taken by this administration?” he quizzed.

The MP further pointed to reductions in fuel and food prices, improved currency stability and the absence of power supply disruptions as signs of economic recovery.

“The cost of doing business has reduced, and ordinary people are beginning to feel some relief,” he said.

He also cited peaceful by-elections and the timely payment of assembly members as indicators of improved governance and political stability.

Appiah Boateng urged Minority Members of Parliament to acknowledge what he described as the country’s economic progress under President Mahama or remain silent.
