The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, joined members of the Women’s Caucus in Parliament to commemorate the 2026 edition of International Women's Day through an outreach programme aimed at inspiring young girls to pursue leadership, education, and skills development.

The initiative brought female legislators into direct interaction with students from Street Academy Ghana and selected technical and vocational institutions in Accra. The engagement sought to motivate the students, widely regarded as the next generation of leaders and innovators, to build confidence and pursue their ambitions.

The visit formed part of activities marking this year’s celebration, held under the theme “Give to Gain,” which emphasises the importance of investing in women and girls as a pathway to sustainable development.

Addressing the students, Aubynn encouraged the girls to recognise their potential and remain focused on shaping a future that reflects their aspirations.

“Leadership begins with believing that you have something meaningful to offer,” she said. “When you develop your abilities and stay committed to your goals, you position yourselves to influence change wherever life takes you.”

She emphasised that both education and practical skills are essential tools that can help young women overcome obstacles and unlock opportunities across different sectors.

According to the Ablekuma North legislator, young girls must also cultivate discipline and courage if they hope to make a lasting impact in society.

“You must prepare yourselves today for the responsibilities of tomorrow,” she noted. “The confidence you build now will determine the heights you reach in the future.”

Members of the Women’s Caucus also used the opportunity to encourage the students to support one another and develop networks that foster collaboration and personal growth.

During her interaction with students at Street Academy, Ms. Aubynn highlighted the importance of solidarity among women, noting that progress is often achieved when women uplift and support one another.

“Progress becomes stronger when women create space for each other to succeed,” she said. “When we share knowledge, encourage one another, and celebrate our achievements together, we all move forward.”

Students who participated in the engagement described the encounter as inspiring, saying that meeting women serving in Parliament made leadership appear more attainable.

The outreach forms part of the Women’s Caucus’ ongoing efforts to mentor and empower young girls across the country while nurturing a new generation of women committed to contributing meaningfully to Ghana’s development.
