According to Rev Wengam, the most effective leadership model remains servant leadership
The Assemblies of God, Ghana has held a thanksgiving service in honour of Samuel Amadu Basentale following his appointment as Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service.
The service took place at the United Assemblies of God Church Achimota and brought together church leaders, members of the immigration service, and well-wishers to thank God for Basentale’s elevation to the top leadership position.
Delivering the sermon, Stephen Wengam, who also serves as Chairman of the Governing Council of the Ghana Immigration Service, urged leaders to embrace servant leadership in order to transform the institutions they head.
He encouraged leaders to place the needs of their followers first and to empower them to realise their aspirations while contributing meaningfully to the growth of the organisations and societies they serve.
According to Rev Wengam, the most effective leadership model remains servant leadership, which he said was exemplified by Jesus Christ as recorded in the Bible.
The thanksgiving service was officiated by Rev Wengam with support from members of the Executive Presbytery of the Assemblies of God, district pastors and the chaplain of the Ghana Immigration Service.
Special prayers were offered for Basentale, the various directorates of the immigration service and the entire institution as they continue to safeguard Ghana’s borders and migration management.
Responding to the gesture, Basentale expressed gratitude to God for his appointment and thanked the Assemblies of God Ghana for the role it played in nurturing him throughout his life and career.
He noted that the church had provided spiritual guidance and support that contributed to his rise to the position of Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service.
