The Member of Parliament for Salaga South Constituency, Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has launched a series of community-focused initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable groups and improving sanitation across the municipality.

Speaking at an annual Iftar gathering hosted by the Kpembewura, the MP announced the establishment of a Trust Fund for orphans. The fund is designed to provide sustained support and promote inclusion among vulnerable children in the constituency.

Ibrahimah reaffirmed her commitment to social welfare, emphasizing that women, children, orphans, and persons with disabilities remain a top priority. As part of immediate relief efforts, clothing was distributed to members of the community, particularly orphans, to help meet their basic needs.

In addition, the MP outlined plans to tackle sanitation challenges in Salaga. She revealed a partnership with the Municipal Chief Executive and Choice Ghana to implement a structured, daily sanitation programme, moving away from periodic clean-up exercises.

She stressed that maintaining a clean environment is essential to safeguarding the dignity and well-being of residents, adding that the initiative will play a key role in transforming the municipality.

The Member of Parliament further outlined a broader strategy to transform both the social and environmental landscape of the constituency.

A key highlight is the formal launch of the Orphan Trust Fund, which aims to move beyond seasonal donations to a more structured, year-round support system. The MP noted that the initiative will ensure orphans feel fully supported and integrated into society. She also pledged to collaborate with the Municipal Chief Executive to secure sustainable funding for the programme.

On sanitation, Ibrahimah reiterated plans to partner with stakeholders to “rebrand and rebuild” Salaga through consistent daily cleaning efforts. She expressed concern over current sanitation conditions, stating that they do not reflect the values of the community.

The MP emphasised that the success of these initiatives will depend on collaboration and shared responsibility. She called on local media outlets, including Kassanteng FM, Kan FM, and Magic FM, to intensify public education and promote behavioural change.

Ibrahimah reaffirmed her commitment to the development of Salaga South, stressing that unity, accountability, and active citizen participation are key to building a cleaner and more inclusive municipality.
