The Deputy Minister for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has distributed food items and 100 bags of cement to Muslims in the Jomoro Municipality to support them in celebrating Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The items included 100 bags of rice, 100 boxes of cooking oil, 25 boxes of Tasty Tom tomato paste, and 25 boxes of mackerel in tomato sauce.
The gesture forms part of the MP’s annual support to Muslim communities in Jomoro, aimed at enabling them to celebrate Eid with their families after the fasting period.
Presenting the items at the T1 Mosque on Saturday, March 21, 2026, Affo-Toffey commended Muslims for observing Ramadan peacefully and successfully.
She noted that the donation reflects her continued commitment to the Muslim community, having earlier presented assorted items—including 100 bags of sugar, tea, and Lipton—at the start of Ramadan.
The Jomoro MP also appealed to the Muslim faithful to remember Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, Ministers of State, and Members of Parliament in their prayers.
“You have done well in completing your fasting and prayers successfully. Ramadan is very important, and we must thank Allah for giving us the strength to complete it. I urge you to remember the President, Ministers of State, MPs, and all politicians in your daily prayers,” she said.
She added: “Pray for me as well, for strength and favour to develop Jomoro.”
Affo-Toffey further pledged her continued support for the development of Muslim communities within her constituency.
“The last time I came here to present sugar, I promised to provide rice for your Eid celebration. Today, I have fulfilled that promise. This is not the first time I have made such a gesture—I have been doing this every year since 2019, even before becoming an MP. This year’s support is exceptional, as I have increased the quantity of items and added 100 bags of cement to support development in our Muslim communities,” she stated.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Muslim community, the Jomoro Municipal Chief Imam, Alhaji Siedu Jallo, expressed gratitude to the MP and offered special prayers for her.
He commended Affo-Toffey for her consistent support, noting that she sponsored a Muslim to perform Hajj last year and is sponsoring another this year. He also highlighted her contributions toward the construction of a morgue at Half Assini.
“Our MP has done a lot for us. Every year, she donates food items for Eid al-Fitr celebrations. We will continue to pray for her and her team,” he said.
Leadership of the Muslim community at T1 also appealed to the MP and the Municipal Chief Executive to support the completion of an ongoing school building project for Muslim children.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Jomoro, Bernard Boadi, urged the community to make good use of the cement and assured them of the Assembly’s support in completing the school project. He also encouraged residents to support the MP’s efforts to develop the municipality.
