The ESDEV Foundation Africa has announced the launch of the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Annual Public Lecture on TVET Transformation in Africa, aimed at promoting dialogue, research exchange, and action to strengthen education and skills development across the continent.

The lecture honors the legacy of Prof Jophus Anamuah-Mensah, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, and a leading figure in teacher education and educational reform in Ghana.

Prof Anamuah-Mensah, an alumnus of the University of Cape Coast, has spent decades advancing education through teaching, mentorship, and institutional leadership.

As founding Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, he expanded access to teacher training, strengthened academic programs, and helped position the university as a national and international reference point for quality education.

He has also contributed to national education reforms through commissions, policy dialogues, and curriculum development initiatives.

The inaugural lecture will be delivered by Emeritus Prof. Clifford Nii Boi Tagoe, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, and will include moderated discussions among key stakeholders on youth unemployment and the promotion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a career pathway.

The event, hosted by the University of Education, Winneba, and organized in collaboration with the University of Cape Coast, University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Development (USTED), Accra Technical University, Vice-Chancellors Ghana, T-TEL, AIMS Ghana, and PRINCOF, will take place on Friday, 27 March 2026, at 11:00 a.m. GMT at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, University of Education, Winneba. Members of the public are invited to attend.

The initiative reflects Prof Anamuah-Mensah’s enduring belief that education, teacher development, and public service are central to national progress and youth empowerment.
