Firefighters from the Adidome Fire Station have averted a potential explosion after a fuel tanker overturned at Adidome Dorfor in the Volta Region.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) post on Facebook, the station received a distress call in the early hours of Friday, April 3, 2026, reporting a road traffic accident involving a petrol tanker with registration number GT 5867-21.
A firefighting team led by ASTN/O Gabienu Perry was dispatched at 00:19 hours and arrived at the scene by 00:30 hours.
“Upon arrival, the crew observed that the tanker had veered off its lane and overturned onto its side while transporting petrol,” it stated.

The situation posed a significant fire risk, prompting the firefighters to swiftly deploy foam concentrate to cool the tanker and prevent a possible explosion.
Their intervention brought the situation under control within 30 minutes.
The tanker was later recovered and towed away by a recovery truck at 11:00 am.
Firefighters subsequently cleared the road, restoring it for safe use by motorists.
No injuries or fatalities were reported.
