The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle Constituency in the Western region, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has donated 1,000 pieces of furniture to the students of Kikam Technical Institute (KIMTEC) in the Constituency.

The move forms part of efforts by the MP to address the furniture deficit in the school.

Handing over the furniture to the management of the school, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah who is also the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Acting Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, pledged his commitment to address some of the challenges the school was facing.

"The Principal has listed so many challenges facing the school and I will do my best to address some of it", he stated.

The MP described Kikam Technical Institute as one of the best technical schools in Ghana by commending the staff for instilling academic discipline in the students.

"Kikam Technical Institute is one of the best technical schools in Ghana and I'm so proud of the school", he noted.

He further pledged his commitment to convince the management of Ghana National Gas Company to reconstruct the campus road of the school through the oil and gas enclave road program.

"We started the construction of the campus road through the oil and gas enclave road program in our first government but unfortunately the NPP government came to abandon it but we now pushing for the new board of Ghana Gas to restore the oil and gas enclave road program so that your campus road will be reconstructed", he stated.

He called on the school authority and students to rally behind President John Dramani Mahama to bring more development to the schools in Ghana especially the Kikam Technical Institute.

"We thank President John Dramani Mahama for directing that all abandoned GETFund projects must be completed and KIMTEC is benefiting from this directive and the next time you I come here I will definitely come here the Chief of Kikam to commission the ongoing dinning hall here", he stated.

He promised to solve the furniture deficit in the school within the next three years.

"Today, we are donating 1,000 furniture to you and the good news is that every year we will donate 1,000 furniture to you and you should have trust in President John Mahama government. NDC government solves problems", he said.

He seized the opportunity to advise the students to take their academic work seriously.

"We want to make you big men and women in future - engineers, electricians, scientists - you have a short opportunity in this school of a lifetime - maximum 2 years so can you imagine this when you complete and you don't make it , there is no way you will get another chance to be here. You must understand the reason why you are here so that you focus on your education and come out with flying colors", he urged.

The Principal of the school, Emmanuel Bright Nomah expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah for the timely intervention.

He appealed to Armah-Kofi Buah and NDC government to build additional staff bungalow and toilet facilities for the students.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle, Joseph Agyekum commended Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah for having educational development at his heart.

He promised to work closely with Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah to solve some of the challenges facing the school.

He further pledged to supervise the completion of the ongoing dinning hall in the school being financed through the GETFund.
