According to the report, the infant, believed to be less than a month old
A newborn baby has been discovered dead at the Kronkromase community cemetery in Kumasi, leaving residents in shock and sorrow, according to myjoyonline.com report.
According to the report, the infant, believed to be less than a month old, was found wrapped in cloth and abandoned in the early hours of Saturday.
An eyewitness explained that he initially noticed a cloth bundle while walking through the cemetery, only to realize it contained the lifeless child. He recalled that this was not the first such incident in the area, citing a similar case two years ago when a baby was abandoned but survived.
Confirming the incident, Abdulai Samid, Assembly Member for the Atasomanso Electoral Area, said the matter has been reported to the police, who have launched an investigation to track down the perpetrator.
He added that the baby was buried under police and traditional authority supervision, as local customs forbid moving a body from the cemetery to a home.
Samid condemned the act as disturbing and unacceptable, stressing that this is the second occurrence in the community.
He urged young women who feel unable to care for children to abstain from sexual activity.
