The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is set to be honoured as a Pillar of Peace at the upcoming “World-Meets-in-Ghana Executive Dinner Ball,” marking his 27th coronation anniversary.

The event, organised by E ON 3 Group and its key partners, is intended to celebrate his legacy in promoting peace, diplomacy, cultural exchange, and economic development in Ghana and beyond.

Organised in collaboration with the Manhyia Palace and several local and international partners, the event will take place at the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Jubilee Hall at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Friday, April 24, 2026. It is being held under the theme: “Advancing Peace and Sustainable Economic Development Through Royal Vision.”

The Special Guest of Honour will be the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey.

Royal guests expected include His Royal Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri Kingdom in Nigeria, and Her Royal Highness Olori Atuwatse III.

The event will bring together global leaders, diplomats, government officials, business executives, traditional authorities, and members of the African diaspora.

It will also feature an opportunity for participants to acquire the Otumfuo Commemorative Gold Coin and Gold Medal, which were minted in honour of the Asantehene’s contribution to peace and national stability.

Since ascending the Golden Stool in 1999, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has been widely recognised for using traditional authority and diplomacy to resolve disputes and promote peace.

He has mediated several long-standing chieftaincy disputes, including the Effiduase, Tepa, and Adonten cases, as well as disputes in Tafo, Bechem, Bekwai, Kokofu, Agona, and Kumawu. He has also helped resolve numerous land disputes across Asanteman.

His mediation efforts have been credited with easing pressure on the formal justice system, with former Chief Justice Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah noting that his interventions helped reduce the burden on the courts.

Otumfuo has also played a role in national political stability, including convening presidential candidates ahead of the 2012 elections to sign a peace pact known as the Kumasi Declaration, and supporting efforts that contributed to a peaceful transition in the 2016 elections.

Internationally, he addressed the United Nations High-Level Forum on the Culture of Peace in 2019, where he spoke on mobilising traditional leadership for peace and security. He also received the “Pillar of Peace” award the same year in recognition of his role in the Dagbon peace process.

In 2021, a 24-karat Otumfuo Commemorative Gold Coin was launched with approval from the Bank of Ghana and support from partners including the Manhyia Palace and financial institutions.

Over the years, the coin has been presented to several notable figures, including Presidents John Dramani Mahama, former presidents Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and John Agyekum Kufuor, as well as former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and other prominent individuals.
