The 66 Artillery Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces has commemorated six decades of dedicated service with a grand durbar in Ho, drawing military personnel, dignitaries and members of the public.

The event, held under the theme “Six Decades of Dedicated Service,” spotlighted the regiment’s longstanding contributions to national security, discipline and professionalism within the armed forces.

A member of the Council of State representing the Volta Region, Dr Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, who attended the ceremony, described the anniversary as a powerful reminder of the sacrifice and resilience that have defined the Ghana Armed Forces over the years.

He praised the “unquenchable spirit” of officers and soldiers of the regiment, noting that their courage, dedication and precision have enabled them to withstand changing times and evolving challenges.

According to him, the enduring values demonstrated by the regiment — discipline, honour and service — remain central to Ghana’s national identity and stability.

Dr Kwamigah-Atokple also expressed gratitude to both serving and retired military personnel, acknowledging their roles in safeguarding the country’s peace and inspiring national pride.

“Through changing times and challenges, they have held the line with resilience and honour,” he noted, adding that the legacy of the regiment continues to stand strong six decades on.

The durbar formed part of activities marking the regiment’s 60th anniversary, celebrating its history and reaffirming its commitment to national service under the enduring motto: “Once a Gunner, Always a Gunner.”
