A contractor for the 24-hour model market project in Bimbilla, Chief Alhaji Mohammed Iddrisu, has assured President John Dramani Mahama that the project will be completed ahead of schedule.

According to the CEO of Yaape Doo Company Ltd, all essential materials and the project’s structural plan have already been finalised.

The 24-hour model market project is expected to be completed within 24 months. Following the sod-cutting ceremony on April 18, 2026, President Mahama emphasised the need for high-quality and timely construction, noting that the Nanumba North Municipality is a critical food-production hub in the country.

The President indicated that the 24-hour market initiative forms part of the NDC’s 2024 campaign promise to stimulate economic activity across markets nationwide.

“Each of the 261 districts will receive a 24-hour market. Bimbilla will be one of the largest model markets. You will have ten warehouses. This market will improve economic activities and linkages between our households and farms,” he said.

Amenities at the multipurpose facility will include:

• 10 large warehouses for food storage and distribution

• A police post, fire service station, and a clinic operating 24/7

• Banking facilities, pharmacies, and crèches for traders’ children

• 100 lockable shops, 150 open stalls, and a lorry terminal
