'My loyalty is to Talensi, not a party' - Talensi chief

The Paramount Chief of the Talensi Traditional Area, Tongraan Kugbilsong Nalebgtang, has called for political non-partisanship, emphasizing his role as a neutral traditional ruler focused on developing his people.

He made this remark when NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah visited his palace as part of the party's "thank you" tour in the Upper East Region.

The Tongraan acknowledged his past NPP affiliation but stated, "I have no political party" as a chief, adding he'll support any party that brings development to Talensi.

He urged NDC and NPP members to unite for the country's progress, saying traditional authority is a partner in national progress, not a tool for electoral competition.

"The constant friction between political camps hampers local communities' progress," he noted.

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah thanked the Tongraan for his guidance and assured the NDC will collaborate with traditional authorities for grassroots development.

The visit highlighted the importance of mutual respect between politicians and traditional leaders in driving national progress.
