The exercise aims to expand healthcare accessibility and affordability among residents
Residents of the Akuapem South Municipality in the Eastern Region have benefited from a free health screening and renewal of their membership under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
The initiative, organized by the Member of Parliament for the area, Lawrencia Adwoa Dziwornu, through the Adwoa Cares Policy in collaboration with the Akuapem South Health Directorate, is being carried out over a five-day period from April 27 to May 1, 2026.
Screening centers have been set up in communities including Adamorobe, Pakro, Dago, Comet and Nsakye to ensure wider participation.
The exercise aims to expand healthcare accessibility and affordability among residents, while promoting healthier living.
The screenings cover general health examinations for conditions such as HB Level (Blood Level), Syphilis, Hepatitis B, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Malaria, Typhoid, and Blood Sugar.
Additional services include BMI checks (Obesity/Overweight Assessment), Blood Pressure monitoring, Special Consultations, Eye Screening, and ENT Screening.
The MP has encouraged residents to embrace the opportunity, stressing that the strength of every community lies in the health of its people.
"Through the Adwoa Cares Policy and in collaboration with the Akuapem South Health Directorate, we warmly invite all residents of Akuapem South to take advantage of our Free Health Screening and NHIS Renewal Exercise," she urged.
According to Madam Dziwornu, health-related matters and early screening are paramount to saving lives.
"Come and get screened for free and renew your NHIS membership," the MP added.
