The Ghana Water Company Limited (Ghana Water Company Limited) in the Ashanti Region has repaired a major burst pipe at the Anloga Junction intersection following an overnight operation that began on Monday, May 4, 2026.

The intervention involved engineers working into the early hours of Tuesday, May 5, 2026, after the fault was detected at the busy intersection.

Speaking on Akoma FM, the Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of GWL, Padi Narh, said the exercise demonstrated how quickly the company responds to service disruptions when they occur.

He explained that technical teams were drawn from both the Ashanti North and South operational areas and worked in collaboration with the Department of Urban Roads as well as officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) at Oforikrom.

According to him, the repair works began at about 9:00 p.m. on Monday and continued throughout the night until the pipeline fault was successfully fixed.

He noted that the response was triggered after water was observed gushing from the junction, requiring immediate technical attention.

He also said the decision to conduct the works at night was deliberate, aimed at reducing disruption to motorists and ensuring safer traffic management.

He praised the Urban Roads Department and the MTTD for their cooperation, noting that their presence was crucial to the smooth execution of the operation.

“In line with GWL’s operational protocols for rapid response to service disruptions, the intervention was carefully planned following the detection of water gushing from the intersection,” he said.

He further assured residents in affected areas such as Oforikrom, parts of Anloga Town, and Bomso that water supply was maintained through alternative arrangements during the repair period.

He added that GWL remains committed to ensuring reliable water supply and improving service delivery across the Ashanti Region.
